On July 19, 2009, version 1.1 was released, containing typo/grammar corrections and a series of bug fixes. It was downloaded well over 100,000 times in the months which followed. On October 17, 2008, version 1.0 of the fan translation was released. Mother 3 is the sequel to EarthBound (an epic Super Nintendo RPG released in 1995) which was in development for 12 years before it was released in Japan in April 2006. Originally developed as a late SNES title, the project was shifted to the Nintendo 64 and even later the Nintendo 64DD, where it received the tentative title of Mother 64 in Japan and EarthBound 64 overseas.
